Marine Life

Surrounding by pristine reef and incredible beds of coral, Tetiaroa provides an excellent location for marine and wildlife to bloom. Home to over 150 species of fish year round, and both whales and sea turtles during migration periods, you are sure to always find wildlife thriving.

During the months of October and November the sea turtles return to lay their eggs on the islets of the atolls.

WIldlife Conservation

Te Mana o te Moana, a non-profit organization that strives to protect the marine environment of French Polynesia, along with the resort and the Tetiaroa Society, monitor the seat turtles nests through until April in order to study and improve their conservation programs.

The Birds of Tetiaroa

The plant and animal life above water never ceases to amaze. Beautiful tropical birds soar through the skies of Tetiaroa. One atoll in particular draws a large crowd and has thus been nicknamed, “Bird Island”.

Thousands of birds can be found roosting on this motus in the evenings. Plants on the motus range from small flowers to magnificent Pueatea that can grow up to 65 feet high. 6 of the 38 indigenous plants found on Tetiaroa are considered to be very rare.
