Maldives
Two monsoons, one archipelago. Here is how the seasons actually play out, and which window suits the trip you have in mind.
The Maldives has two seasons, set by the monsoons rather than by temperature, which stays close to 30°C year round. The dry northeast monsoon runs roughly December to April, with calm seas, clear skies and the firmest sun — and the highest rates, peaking around the festive weeks. The southwest monsoon, May to November, brings warmer water, greener light and short, heavy showers that usually pass within the hour.
For settled weather and underwater visibility, January to March is the surest bet. Divers and snorkellers often prefer the shoulder months: manta and whale shark activity around the southern atolls is strongest from roughly August to November, when plankton blooms draw them in. If value matters more than guaranteed sun, late May, June and September reward you with quiet resorts and softer pricing.
Seaplane transfers operate in daylight only, so an evening arrival into Malé may mean a night near the airport before flying on. We factor that into every itinerary so the first day feels considered rather than rushed. See our Maldives resorts or tell us your dates for tailored advice.
